Several years ago my brother-in-law and sister-in-law inherited an old, beaten up armoire when they bought their house. They tried to do something with it, but decided the piece was too stubborn. We accepted the hand-me down piece of furniture with high hopes of turning it into something spectacular, but quickly gave up and broke it down for [...]

My first blogging adventure!
A brand new year brings a brand new and scary adventure for me. Not entirely sure why I think blogging is so scary, but I suppose it has something to do with my fear of letting people too close. But I enjoy people and sharing my experiences which is why I am going to give this blogging thing a try.
So, far . . .well, it hasn’t been too bad. I some ideas on what to talk about. The purpose of this blog is going to be a way for me to harness my creativity in whatever form that may be. I learned a long time ago that creativity doesn’t just wallow in one medium. While I consider myself a writer, foremost, I have other ways in which I express myself.
I have attempted to upload a picture of some artwork that hangs in my office. As I am typing this post, I see that the picture is somewhat askew. It does not look rotated vertically like WordPress is assuring me, but I am going to go with the flow and see what happens when I press publish. Besides, it doesn’t matter so much how perfect the picture appears on this post. What matters is what the words say. They are inspirational directives that I intend to try to more fully embrace. My desire is to live out these directives in my blogging, but more importantly my daily life.
Another purpose of this blog is to share another passion that has unexpectedly landed in my life. Running. If you had asked me a year ago if I was a runner, I would have laughed and said, “Nah, not truly. I jog, a little, but mainly I am a walker. Better for the knees. Who in their right mind would run if walking produces the same results?”
Who was that girl? I ask. I have slowly evolved into a runner. With that evolution I have also decided that running is different from walking and not for the obvious reasons. Running has helped me clear my mind so that I can expand otherwise narrow thoughts into larger ideas that find their way into my creative medium. That is why I also started this blog. To speak to others who have just started that first step towards running. To give some sophomoric advice and motivation.
So, I hope you enjoy my blog as well as the random and not so random thoughts that may find their way onto your computer screen. Goodnight for now!
